I lived in Los Angeles from 1983 until 1985. I was spending a lot
of time in my car and I loved the feeling of being in my own little
world, listening to music or AM talk radio, flying along the freeway
at 75 miles an hour (or crawling along at 5 miles an hour), while
my fellow travelers were doing the same just a few yards away. I set
my camera on a tripod arranged to face out the passenger window of
my 1978 Peugeot 504 and attached a cable release that would reach
my hand on the steering wheel. Over the period of a few weeks I shot
a dozen or so rolls of film.
